My agenda on differential and experiential learning.
The idea of differentiation is defined as pedagogical philosophy grounded in the idea or knowledge that learners have different abilities ;therefore different levels of readiness to learn. This is to say in other words ,all learners have differences and learn differently, have different interests and as such the teacher must come up with ways to accommodate al these differences. (Tomlinson et al, 2005). Therefore the teacher must use varied and differentiated methods and factor in individual differences of learners in his/her care Assessments and regular evaluation are the measurement scales that may be useful in identifying the differences.
Learning differentiation should respond to 3 aspects ;students readiness, interests and learning profile .Experiential learning is defined as learning by doing and through experiencing something. Kolb & Kolb (2011). Learning through experiences and by doing calls for support through provision of a variety of resources. Experiential learning allows learners to swim in an experience and later allows for reflections ,to develop new skills ,attitudes and ways of thinking Lewis and William(1994).
As such, my personal learning agenda is to fully embrace workable pedagogical methodologies that can be employed in effective differentiation and experiential learning, and accommodate all the different kinds of learners despite their abilities. Later on as i get better at it ,I may bein a position to tag along fellow teachers and together shift our way of doing things hence producing better learners. Learning then becomes self paced and individualized ,fun and self driven. This way ,even the very slow and challenged learners will be accommodated and will not be so hard pressured to keep pace with the fast learner.
